The history competition will consist of a writing assignment designed to test:
Ability to interpret historical documents
Awareness of the factors that contribute to social, economic and political change from one time period to another
Skill in using historical evidence to support a thesis
The examination will be based on reading materials provided by the Department of History. These will be sent to participants via email and the postal service by January 23 (for Weekend 1 participants) and January 30 (for Weekend 2 participants). Participants should bring pens to the exam.
Time allowed: 2 hrs. Notes will not be allowed in exam.
