NEWBERG, Oregon – The quality of George Fox University’s engineering major once again got the attention of U.S. News & World Report, which ranked it as the top Christian college engineering program in the West in its annual ratings of colleges and universities nationwide.

The publication ranked George Fox No. 82 out of 292 institutions in its “Best Undergraduate Engineering Programs” rankings, consisting of schools that offer an engineering major (bachelor’s or master’s degree) accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology that do not offer a doctorate program.

With the distinction, George Fox’s engineering program once again landed among the top 30 percent nationally – and was the top program ranked among West Coast-based institutions in the Council for Christian Colleges & Universities. The rankings were based on peer assessment surveys of deans and senior faculty from accredited U.S. institutions.

In addition, George Fox once again landed on the magazine’s “Top Performers on Social Mobility” list, ranking No. 1 in the category among Christian colleges in the Pacific Northwest. The rating represents the university’s success at enrolling and graduating large proportions of disadvantaged students who receive Pell Grants – the majority of which are awarded to students whose adjusted gross family incomes are under $50,000 annually, and in many cases, below $20,000.

Finally, for a 38th year, George Fox was recognized in the publication’s annual “Best Colleges” overall rankings, landing in the magazine’s prestigious “Best National Universities” category – a grouping of some of the most renowned institutions in the country – for a seventh straight year.

The Newberg, Oregon-based university ranked No. 283 overall in the 2026 rankings. In all, 436 institutions were categorized as “Best National Universities,” a grouping that includes Princeton (No. 1), the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (No. 2), Harvard (No. 3) and Stanford (No. 4). Colleges in the category offer a full range of undergraduate majors, plus master’s and doctoral programs, while also producing groundbreaking research. George Fox is one of only two private universities in Oregon to earn this distinction.

The rankings – including the component information on each college’s score – are available online at usnews.com.
