George Fox University breaks enrollment record

NEWBERG, Ore. – For the 21st time in the last 22 years, George Fox University has broken its enrollment record. Overall enrollment grew to 3,382, up 4 percent from 3,253 last year. George Fox has more than sextupled in size since 1986, when 549 students attended.
The university’s 17 graduate and seminary programs saw the strongest growth, with enrollment increasing 6 percent to 1,380.
George Fox saw a slight dip in traditional undergraduates with 1,730 enrolling on the Newberg campus, down from 1,739 last year. Incoming freshmen have an average high school grade point of 3.6 and SAT math and critical reading scores of 1,099. The national average for college-bound seniors is 1,017.
The university’s undergraduate international student population is at an all-time high at 101, with the majority coming from China.
Fall semester for traditional undergraduates began Monday, Sept. 1. The university determines official enrollment based upon students registered on the 10th day of classes.
George Fox University is the only Christian university in the Pacific Northwest classified by U.S. News & World Report as a national university. More than 3,200 students attend classes on the university’s campus in Newberg, Ore., and at teaching centers in Portland, Salem, and Redmond Ore., and Boise, Idaho. George Fox offers bachelor’s degrees in more than 40 majors, degree-completion programs for working adults, five seminary degrees, and 12 master’s and doctoral degrees.
