Peer Advisor Information

A Peer Advisor plays an integral role in assisting new students’ transition to George Fox. Peer Advisors serve as representatives on the entire student body of George Fox University and are responsible for positively promoting the university to members of the community at large. Peer Advisors fulfill these roles through assisting with Welcome Weekend and LIBA 100: Knowing and Being Known or HNRS 150: Origins.

Informational Meeting: Feb. 1, 2018 at 9 p.m. in Lemmons 8

  • All students interested in being a peer advisor for LIBA 100 or HNRS 150 should come to an information session at 9 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 1 in Lemmons 8 to learn more about the position. If you cannot make this meeting, and are interested in learning more about being a PA, please email Polly Peterson at
  • The honors program will hold an additional meeting for honors students interested in being a peer advisor specifically for honors. This follow-up meeting is at 3:30 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 5, in the Pennington House. If you cannot make this honors-specific meeting, please email Jane Sweet at  

Applications Due Feb. 23, 2018 at 5 p.m.

  • Peer Advisor Applications are due Friday, Feb. 23, 2018, at 5 p.m. This is true for both LIBA 100 and HNRS 150.
  • Please type your general application in 10-point font. Handwritten applications will not be accepted. Note that all of the applications and supplemental questions require Adobe Acrobat Reader (download here if you do not already have it.) These forms are writable, so download the PDF and save a copy to your desktop. Note: The Honors Addendum may be handwritten.
  • All materials below are required for a complete application. Include your name in the subject of all documents you email to Polly Peterson.

      • References are needed from
        • one George Fox faculty member or employment supervisor, and 
        • one current George Fox student (preferably from your RA if you live on campus).
      • Email this exact web address to your references after asking if they will serve as a reference. References are due Friday, Feb. 23, at 5 p.m. – the same time your application is due.
  • Submit completed materials electronically or in paper form to Polly Peterson at or mailbox #6292. Include your name in the subject of all documents you email.
  • In addition to all the required applications for the PA role listed above, if you are applying to the HNRS 150 position, you must submit the Honors Application, in completed form, directly to Jane Sweet at jsweet@georgefox.edumail it to her at box #6283, or drop it off in the Pennington House. Include your name in the subject of all documents you email.
  • Peer Advisor Interviews will be held in early March. More details about PA interviews will be sent after application submission deadline passes.

Applicants for Welcome Weekend coordinator and committee positions are required to fill out application materials above; send a resume and write one paragraph explaining why they would like to do the role.
