Name: Olivia Alexander

High School: Sumner High School (Sumner, Washington)

Position(s): Outside hitter

High School Highlights:
Served as a team captain all four years of high school and started and played all 21 varsity matches as a senior, when she earned honorable mention all-league honors (South Puget South League); recorded 202 kills in her varsity career; voted by her team as Most Inspirational and Most Positive this year; also earned a spot on the school’s honor roll

Ashtyn Butler

Name: Ashtyn Butler

High School: Capital Christian High School (Sacramento, California)

Sport(s): Volleyball

Position(s): Middle blocker

Height / Weight: 5-9

High School Highlights:
Recorded 166 kills, a .434 hitting percentage, 30 total blocks (18 solo) and 35 aces as a senior, when she earned academic all-league honors (Golden Empire League); helped team win league title in 2016 and a runner-up finish in Division 5 Section

Why I chose George Fox:
I chose to attend George Fox because of the Christian atmosphere and beautiful scenery. I cannot wait to grow athletically, academically and spiritually during my next four years at Fox!

Helped her team place fourth in state in 2016, fifth in both 2014 and 2015, and third in 2013; member of state academic champs in 2016

Name: Sophia Lawrence

High School: Bellingham High School (Bellingham, Washington)

Sport(s): Volleyball and tennis

Position(s): Libero (volleyball)

Height / Weight: 5-6

High School Highlights:
Earned Sportsmanship Award at State Volleyball Tournament as a senior and was sportsmanship representative for girls sports for Bellingham High School that same season; named to All-Whatcom County Team in volleyball and selected first-team all-conference in volleyball her senior year, when she was named team MVP; served as a team captain for her volleyball team her junior and senior years; helped Bellingham reach state volleyball tournament for the first time in 25 years her senior year, when she led the team in digs; in tennis, she was named Most Inspirational Player on her team as a junior and Most Improved as a sophomore; she was also second in 2A girls state doubles as a junior, when she was named first-team all-conference in the sport

Why I chose George Fox:
It was the Christ-centered community I was searching for. Volleyball and tennis have always been two of my passions in life, and to be able to involve God's love with it all is even sweeter.

Position(s): Outside hitter and middle blocker

High School Highlights:
Earned all-league honors as a senior (Class 4A Cowapa League) and was honorable mention selection in 2015; helped team place fourth in state in 2016 and sixth in state her junior year; named her team’s Best Offensive Player her senior season, when she recorded 102 kills, 30 block kills, a 26 percent kill percentage and 27 aces

Why I chose George Fox:
I chose George Fox because the moment I walked on campus for the first time, it felt right. I fell in love with the campus and the idea that I will be able to learn more about my faith while at college. I have already witnessed “Be Known” when I got accepted to the university, and they called to tell me personally. Everyone that I have met here is so nice and welcoming. Another reason I chose George Fox is because I wanted to stay close to home so that I can be close to my family. George Fox is an amazing school, and I cannot wait to be a part of it!
