Music at George Fox University
The music department at George Fox University serves students interested in careers in music performance and education as well those pursuing other majors who want to enrich their liberal arts education with classes or by participating in ensembles. In fact, about three out of five students enrolled in ensembles at George Fox are not music majors or minors.
Nationally Accredited Music Program
As a nationally recognized Christian university, George Fox's music curriculum is Christ-centered as well as academically rigorous. The music program is fully accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM) through a peer-reviewed accreditation process and has been recognized by the National Association for Music Educators (NAfME) and Society for Music Teacher Education (SMTE).
Program graduates go on to teach, perform professionally and contribute to their communities through music.
Bauman Auditorium: Outstanding Acoustics
The department puts on a number of concerts and recitals throughout the school year that are open to the public, including the annual Bösendorfer Artist Concert Series and Spring Concert.
These events, as well as performances by visiting artists and groups, are held in the university's Bauman Auditorium, described by former Oregon Symphony Music Director James DePreist as "one of the finest venues for music-making in this country" because of its outstanding acoustics.
