George Fox football helmet and soccer ballA combined $1.2 million lead gift from Brad and Katharine Stoffer and their Boedecker Foundation will allow the university to begin the first phase of construction on the Austin Sports Complex, a multi-use facility to be shared by the university, the Chehalem Park and Recreation District, Newberg High School, local club teams, and the community. The $6.5 million project will be built a half mile north of the George Fox Newberg campus at the corner of North Villa Road and East Crestview Drive.

The donation also moves the university closer to adding NCAA Div. III football and women’s lacrosse teams. The Stoffer gift will fund much of the construction of the Stoffer Family Stadium, which includes a multi-use synthetic turf field that could be used for soccer, football and lacrosse. The university has begun fundraising for the remainder of phase I of the complex, which includes a synthetic turf soccer field and a multi-use field building. The university will partner with the Chehalem Park and Recreational District to fund phase II of the project, which will include three grass fields.
