The Gap Year: A Longer Transition After College
The gap year is gaining more recognition and popularity among college seniors these days. Websites and books are dedicated to discussing this phenomenon. As a parent, your initial response is likely to be one of bewilderment if your student plans to take time off before finding career employment or attending graduate school. Those of us in the career profession are seeing more and more students delay in their decision-making, which lends itself to this transition-year idea. In addition, many parents are able and willing to provide housing for a time after graduation, taking care of a fundamental need that had been a significant motivator to have a viable career plan. May Serve Trips
This May, a team of 16 from George Fox will travel to Brazil. Then, in June, a team of 17 will travel to India for three weeks of ministry though service and evangelism. We plan to reconnect while also establishing new relationships in both countries. We had a team in Brazil in 2003 and a team in India back in 1997. More...

Spring Serve Trips
During Spring break, March 23 - 31, five student teams will be serving in Los Angeles, California (two teams), Lapwai, Idaho, Yakima, Washington, and Salt Lake City, Utah. These trips can be life changing and challenging for our students. Please pray for safety and individual growth as they travel. Detailed list of Spring Serve trip descriptions.

George Fox University's May serve missions team is going to Brazil to bring the love of Christ to the people of Brazil. Help send the team by purchasing a pizza for your son or daughter for only $12! Your student will receive a LARGE hot pizza the week before finals. All profits go to support the May Serve team. Donations are appreciated as well.

Parent Day of Prayer, March 17, 2007
Parents who want to pray collectively for George Fox University have three opportunities to be involved.
1. Parents who live near campus can attend the campus prayer gathering in the Hoover Lecture Hall between 9am and noon. Campus pastor, Sarah Thomas Baldwin, will lead us in a time of worship along with the university's worship band. We will also be taking a campus prayer walk, so dress warmly!
2. 13 regional locations throughout Washington, California, Utah and Oregon will host prayer times on the same day. Find out if there is a gathering in your area.
3. Be involved in praying with us wherever you are. You may submit your prayer requests to us and we will pray for you on March 17th. You may also request the list of gathered prayer requests to be sent to you by sending an e-mail request to Sheri Philips.
Spring Sports Schedules Available
The Spring sports schedules for men's and women's tennis, softball, baseball, and men's and women's track and field are available online and in a wallet-sized card format you can take with you wherever you go! To request a mini-calendar, e-mail evpattis@georgefox.edu and provide your mailing address. We will send it to your home.
Graduation information for parents of Spring graduates
Graduation information is available online for parents of undergraduate students who will be graduating April 28, 2007.
One of the most favorite events for families of Fox graduates is the First Reunion event that will be held on Friday night, April 27th. This evening includes a program to celebrate our seniors, followed by a Paris themed buffet dinner in the dining room. Families and friends of all traditional graduating seniors are invited to attend. The seniors attend free of charge as guests of the alumni association. Online registration can be found on the commencement web site.

Join us for the second annual motorcycle rally departing from the Newberg campus. If you are a street motorcycle rider, we want to hear from you so we can include you in the invitations! We would also like to know if you are interested in one of the longer rides (200 - 250 miles) - one to Detroit Lake and one to the Columbia Gorge - or the short ride (100 - 125 miles) through Yamhill County wine country.
