Virtual Interns Gain "Real World" Experience

With more and more college students doing internships, employers are starting to expect to see them listed on resumes of potential employees. Employers like to hire students with "real world" experience. If a student doesn't seek a traditional internship experience, one alternative is to do a virtual internship, also known as an "e-internship."

October 2005

Greetings from the Executive Director
Have you noticed a change in your student within the past two weeks? The newness of the beginning of school has worn off. All of the start-up activities are over. The work is picking up, the tests are coming at them, and the purpose of school - learning in preparation for life - is sinking in! More...

A Note from the Parent Council
It's difficult to believe that our students are six weeks into the fall semester at George Fox. I trust your son or daughter has adjusted to life at Fox and is experiencing success in the classroom and life on campus. I am sure there is a lot of late-night, last-minute homework going on, but students always find time for socializing. More...

From the Campus Pastor
I stood in my living room the other day surveying the semi-chaos. Although we have been officially living in our home for about two months, we are still not all the way settled. A few boxes that we dragged in from the garage are half-unpacked, pictures lean against the walls, and the pantry closet is in the process of being reorganized and gapes at us with a toothy grin of cereal, flour, and granola bars. Fall Theatre - Machinal (1928)
Written by Sophie Treadwell
October 20-22 & 27-29 at 7:30 p.m.
Wood-Mar Theatre
Synopsis: A 1928 Broadway hit, Machinal is a modern parable that depicts one woman's tragic journey from isolation to murder. In Treadwell's words the play is about "a young woman, ready, eager for life, for love...but deadened, squeezed, crushed by the machine like quality of the life surrounding." This highly charged and moving play asks us to re-examine how our own lives are part of various societal "machines" that can crush our spiritual hunger for God. Join us for a thought provoking evening of 1920s Expressionism as we explore the spiritual consequences of obedience to the machines of life.
For tickets contact the box office at 503-554-3844. $10 for general admission, $8 for seniors and alumni and $6 for students and children under 12.
