Thoughts by GF Students on a Liberal Arts Education:
#1 "In most cases, simply the fact that you as a student will have completed a four-year college and have earned your Liberal Arts degree puts you ahead of a lot of people in the job industry. Even if you don't end up in a field that directly pertains to the major you went into, the skills and experiences you gained along the way will become of use to you when you're working in the job market." -Amy

December 2005
From the Executive Director
Perhaps your family has always done a good job of celebrating Christmas without the stress of materialism, busyness, and overachievement (in the areas of decorating, baking, etc.). Perhaps keeping Jesus as the center of the season is the first thing on your mind these days. I pray this is true! More...
Home for the Holidaysâ?¦.
By now, many of us parents have arranged to send our son and/or daughter a care package from the Bone to help them make it through the dreaded finals week. Of course, we are very excited to see our kids again, especially for the long holiday break, and these care packages help physically and psychologically in the transition from classes to finals to home. Although we are warmed and heartened to see the gleam in their eyes upon returning home for the holidays, we soon realize their excitement stems from the anticipation of eating some good home-cooked food, and that's just fine. No cafeteria dining for three weeks! More...
Why does my student sleep so much when they are home?
A couch, a chair, the floor, the car: Any time or any place is fair game for naps when your student comes home for the holidays. Christmas break is a great time for your student to rest. Every holiday break, I returned home and my parents would always wonder, "Why does Kris always sleep so much?" I just remember being home and so desperately wanting to participate in festivities going on with friends and family. But often, the comforts of home overrode my best of intentions. More...

Kaleo: a day for people called to youth ministry
On Saturday, January 21, 2006, Mark Yaconelli will be on George Fox University's Newberg campus for a one-day seminar. His topic "Practicing the Presence of Jesus with Youth" will remind attendees that throughout Jesus' ministry He was present to God and present to people. When we remember that Jesus goes before and beside us, we help kids become alive in Christ. If you are called to work with youth, this seminar will help you look at your ministry with fresh eyes. For more information and to register visit www.georgefox.edu/kaleo.
