How Should Your Student Behave During a Behavioral Interview?
Tell me about yourself. Why did you choose this career? These are two of the most common questions our students are likely to be asked during an interview. Increasingly though, recruiters are more apt to ask behavior-based questions in order to find quality prospects. Katharine Hansen, in her article "Behavioral Interviewing Strategies" on www.quintcareers.com, says "the premise behind behavioral interviewing is that the most accurate predictor of future performance is past performance in similar situations. Behavioral interviewing, in fact, is said to be 55 percent predictive of future on-the-job behavior, while traditional interviewing is only 10 percent predictive." More...

February 2006
From the Executive Director
Mark Yaconelli was our speaker on campus last weekend for the annual Kaleo conference, for people who minister to youth. Mark gave us a beautiful illustration of how people discover and rediscover God's calling on their lives. He reminded us to "follow the thread" and helped us see that each of us has a long, thin thread that runs through our lives. Sometimes it gets buried in layers of busyness, stress or distraction. If we keep our hearts open, we are able to find the thread, pick it up, and follow it to new manifestations of God's will for our lives. This image accurately describes the longings of my heart for the past year. I am in the process of following my thread by listening, praying, watching, and preparing. The journey has been so joyous that I'm relatively unconcerned where it's going! More...
George Fox University's Parents Day of Prayer
In Acts 6:4, it says, "But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the Word." I believe that parents are in continual prayer for their sons and daughters. But when we come together and pray collectively for each other's students, it can be very powerful. Samuel 7:5 says, "And Samuel said, 'Gather all of Israel to Mizpeh, and I will pray for you unto the Lord.'" Samuel was telling us that we need to gather together to be even more effective in our praying. This is the reason the Parents Council offers George Fox parents the opportunity to gather for a day of prayer. More...
Your Students are 'Alumni in Residence'
By Nate McIntyre '00, Director of Alumni Relations
Most students don't realize they are George Fox University alumni after only one year as full-time students. We like to call them "alumni in residence." Being George Fox alumni means many different things to many different people, but here is a snippet of what we hope it means. More...

Homecoming Highlights
Relationships matter at George Fox University! Alumni come back every year to connect with classmates, faculty, and friends. It's an opportunity for them to look back over the years at God's faithfulness in the lives of others with whom they shared a significant bond during college years. They get a chance to see current students, and see how the campus has grown and changed over the years. Homecoming 2006 will host reunions for the classes of 1996, 1986, 1981, 1976, 1966, and 1946. In addition, affinity reunions will be hosted for Track and Cross Country alumni, and A Cappella Choir alumni from 1968 - 1980 (under the direction of Dr. Jerry Friesen). For schedule and registration information go to georgefox.edu/alumni/events/homecoming.

Update on Hoover remodel and Le Shana Residence Hall
Surely you have noticed that George Fox University has encountered parking challenges this year due to two large construction projects. Here is the update on progress and prognosis for completion:
The expanded Hoover Academic Building project continues in its first phase. It is expected that the addition on the west side of the building will be completed by May, 2006. The second phase, a renovation of the existing building, will be completed this summer.
The completion date for the Dave and Becky Le Shana Residence Hall is August 1, 2006. The new residence hall is located off of Fulton Street and is situated near University Hall, which has been renamed T. Eugene Coffin Residence Hall. The names of the residence halls were recently approved by the University Board of Trustees.
Additional parking for the residence halls will be created to the east of the halls, along Villa Street.
