From the Executive Director
The Scriptures are so good at depicting Jesus' friends Martha and Mary that most of us are confident we understand who these women were. Martha was a "do-er" - she loved to achieve, coordinate, serve, and get things done. Mary was a "be-er" - she loved to learn, think, ponder, and live in the moment. More...

From the Parent Council
"God of wonders, beyond our galaxy..." So the praise song goes. Have you ever really thought about that? We live on a small planet that hurtles around our parent star at more than 60,000 miles per hour. It takes years for us to send a spacecraft to one of the outer planets in our solar system. The nearest star, Proxima Centauri, is still so far away that none of us could make it there and back in one lifetime, let alone many lifetimes. It's nine years round trip at the speed of light... and that's just to the closest star. More...

Career Corner
Why students should attend our April 3 First Avenue Career & Graduate School Fair
Donny Miller, a senior business major and current professional activities intern in our Career Services office, attended our First Avenue Career & Graduate School Fair (olapcfirstavenue.org) last year as a junior; he still raves about his experience at the fair: "As a student who needs to get a job within six months of graduating, First Avenue is one of the best chances George Fox students have to captivate the attention of many of the best local/regional/national companies and organizations." Student Serve Trips
By Andrea Crenshaw
A team of 12-24 will serve in Lapwai, Idaho. The trip will be a refreshing mix of physical labor and interaction within the community. The team will be working at the Lapwai Church of God doing work such as painting, grounds work, and roof work during the day. Throughout the week, the team will also be providing outreach opportunities for the local children. It is a great relationship building experience, both with team-members and with members of the Lapwai community. More...

Parent's Day of Prayer
March 15, 2008
The George Fox University Parent's Day of Prayer will be held on Saturday, March 15, 2008. Parents who want to join in prayer have three options:

  1. If you live locally, you can come to the campus between 9 a.m. and Noon. Our prayer gathering will be held in the Hoover Academic building, room 105. We will pray for George Fox students, worship together, and take prayer walks all over campus (this may be a new experience for some, but it is a lot of fun).
  2. Join parents in one of our ten regional sites throughout Oregon, Washington, California and Alaska. The site hosts will hold their prayer gatherings at various times, so please check with them if you're interested.
  3. Pray for George Fox University students on your own. The office of university relations will send you a list of prayer requests so you can join us at your convenience on March 15.

You can find more information about the Newberg event, find a list of regional sites, and register online at http://www.georgefox.edu/parents/events/dayofprayer.html.
