You are receiving this newsletter two weeks after a tragic accident occurred, involving four George Fox University students. As you must know by now, the accident claimed the life of Cara Moran, a senior history major who would have graduated this month. Three other senior women were severely injured and hospitalized.
Our thoughts and prayers have been with the families involved. We are praying for physical and emotional healing for the women who are injured. We are praying for unimaginable peace, love, and strength for the Moran family. We pray, believing that God will engulf them in his deep love and walk with them through the days ahead.
It is my observation that the George Fox community shines during times like this. This is when the metal is tested and found to be pure gold. As soon as the news was released, our students embraced these families and prayed for these students. And it won't stop there. Our students, faculty, and staff will honor Cara's life. She will always be a special George Fox alumna - a treasured part of our community. The students, faculty, and staff will walk alongside the women in recovery with prayer and support.
This event received significant media attention. Local channels broadcasted comments made by our students that lifted the Lord high and proclaimed his light in the lives of these women. The message was clear - that we are a people who have the hope of eternal life with God! Although we grieve the loss of Cara we know that she is home with her Savior in heaven. The same hope that is fulfilled in Cara's life right now is the comfort and joy in our lives as well.
So, I bring you tidings of comfort and joy during this Holy Season. Comfort and joy are promises from our Savior that we can claim with assurance, even in the midst of the most difficult circumstances.
May the Lord bless you!
