Simply … Faith

What a glorious time of the year! We are in the middle of a blaze of color and looking forward to a season of winter and the joyous holidays that occupy those months.

As I was thinking on what to share this month – my heart was drawn towards priorities, the un-cluttering of life so that we can concentrate and devote time to the essentials. In anticipation of the upcoming holidays and of our students returning home, our hope as parents is that we can keep it simple. We recognize that time has flown by – our toddlers in footed pajamas are now men and women with schedules and lives of their own. If we could just slow down the clock over the next few weeks in order that we might devote time and attention to the things that matter.

So as the doors of your home open wide and your student enters – I encourage you, from one parent to another, concentrate on the basics – the priorities of your life – time, family, togetherness, conversation, laughter, good food and faith.
“I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people … a Savior …; he is the Messiah, the Lord …Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests…when they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about him, and all who heard it were amazed … Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart.” ~ from Luke 2
Before you know it the door will be swinging the opposite way. It will be the New Year. Your student will be packing up his/her or your vehicle and heading back to campus to partake in all the adventures that the second semester brings. Another glorious season!

But … while the moment is here may you all concentrate on the good news that brings us all great joy – Our Savior – Our Messiah – the Lord, find favor in His presence, spread the word concerning Him, be amazed, and treasure all these things in your heart.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
