March 2006
From the Executive Director
You will notice, from two of the articles included in this issue of Parent Perspectives, that many George Fox students are preparing for serve trips that will take place during spring break and the month of May. Opportunities to serve other people, whether abroad or in our own country, give special shape to our students' George Fox experiences. More significantly, many alumni whose first missionary journeys took place as students devote their lives to missionary ministries. More...
Reaching Out to Victims of Hurricane Katrina
George Fox University is sending two teams of 15 students and two staff leaders to the Hurricane Katrina region during spring break, March 24 - April 1. In partnership with Campus Crusade for Christ and Habitat for Humanity, these teams will work with skilled contractors, doing everything from clean-up work to the rebuilding of buildings and homes and the construction of new homes for low-income families. The George Fox teams will join with as many as 500 college students from around the country to make a major impact and demonstrate the love of Christ to those most profoundly affected by the hurricane. May Serve Trip
This May, 17 students and two leaders will travel to Romania in Eastern Europe for a month of service and evangelism as part of the university's May Serve Program. George Fox sent two teams to Romania in May and June of 2002 and wanted to continue to build upon the relationships that were established that summer by taking another team this year. More...

Parents Day of Prayer
The George Fox University Parents Day of Prayer will be held on Saturday, March 11, 2006. Parents who want to join in prayer have three options:
1. Come to campus from 9 a.m. - Noon in Calder Lecture Hall, Lemmons Center (this is an updated location). We will pray for our students, worship with the campus band, and take prayer walks all over campus (this may be a new experience for some, but it's a lot of fun!)
2. Join parents in one of our 14 regional sites throughout Oregon, Washington, California, Alaska, and Utah. The site hosts may be holding their prayer gatherings at various times, so you'll need to check with them.
3. Pray on your own! The Office of University Relations will send you a list of prayer requests (the same ones used by the parents praying together) so you can join us on your own!
Spring Serve Trips
Five student groups will be serving alongside ministries in Lapwai, Idaho; Naches, Washington; Los Angeles, California; and, Salt Lake City, Utah during Spring Break, March 24 - April 1, 2006. These experiences can be life changing for George Fox students. Please pray for travel safety and spiritual growth for our students. List of Serve Trip locations.
University Players
The eight students in the University Players ministry will be on tour throughout California during Spring Break, Marcy 24 - April 1, 2006. Please pray for travel safety and effective ministry. List of performance locations.
