Career Corner

By Bonnie Jerke
Director of Career Services

Ready-Set-Go
As a Career Services Staff, it is our pleasure to serve your studentsâ?¦and our hope we'll get to know each of them while they are at GF. I was asked once about my vision for our office and I replied, "To assist each and every student here with their career development process in some way." Our new theme this year is "Ready-Set-Go" and our mission is to coach your student toward career success. Ready is for the early-college years of selecting a major, Set is for the mid-college years of getting work experience and the Go is for the final years of finding professional employment or going to graduate school.

A Note from President Brandt: George Fox Responds to Hurricane Katrina
The events of the past week seem far away when the weather in Oregon is sunny and warm. What we know comes by way of the various news media with pictures that seem impossible. We are a nation that prides itself in responding quickly to human need, whether in our country or elsewhere. This week we seem not to have done very well. The university responds both individually and collectively. Many individuals will give to various relief agencies, but we must also respond as an institution. More...

Greetings from the Executive Director
Welcome to George Fox University's first parent e-newsletter for the 2005-06 academic year! You can expect to receive an e-newsletter each month of the academic year, September through April. The e-newsletter will provide timely information about current events at the Newberg campus, excellent (and brief) articles from campus administrators and faculty, and a place where you feel connected to the university. It will only take a few minutes to read through each e-newsletter, so I encourage you to take the time to read up! More...

From the President
Students have chosen "Live Out Loud" as this year's theme to greet new students to George Fox University. When I saw the theme I wondered if we really need more noise in our world. On further reflection, I find I not only like the theme, but that it has a powerful message for all of us. More...

School is starting! What a great time to get involved!
The 2005-06 academic year is here! This is exciting in many ways. You may be sending your first child off to college or you may have a senior starting his or her final year. Watching our students go to college at George Fox University is a special time for the entire family. We know they are being sent to a place where they will learn academically. More importantly, they learn that who they are is a gift from God and what they make of themselves is their gift back to God. As parents, we have the privilege of knowing that Christian professors surround our sons and daughters, teaching them how to apply academics with a Christian worldview. More...
