From the Dean of Students

Life is made up of decisions. We all make choices each day, whether good or bad. We make mundane decisions, such as whether or not we will brush our teeth before we head out the door, and significant decisions, such as accepting a job offer.

The reason your son or daughter is attending George Fox University is, in part, preparation for purposeful direction in their lives. They are deciding their major, what they believe, their career path, who their friends are, activities to be involved in, and countless other decisions. They may even be deciding on whom they will marry. At George Fox, our desire is to assist students to view these decisions from a Christ-honoring perspective.

In the Office of Student Life, we have the privilege, honor, and challenge of journeying with students in their developmental growth and decision-making process. We aspire to point them to Jesus as the source for wisdom and discernment. Our greatest desire is that they would honor Christ in their lives as they engage in becoming people of integrity, honesty, and Christ-like character. Our hope is that students will see God's direction and promises as King David did when he stated in Psalm 138:8 (NLT), "The Lord will work out his plans for my life - your faithful love, O Lord, endures forever."

The challenge for you as parents is similar to ours in Student Life. How are you encouraging your son or daughter to aspire to become people of integrity and character? How are you challenging them to be Christ-honoring adults who make wise decisions? Our hope is that when students graduate from GFU they will transform their world to make it a better place. We also hope they will be "Jesus with skin on" to the people they rub shoulders with. Thank you for the love and care you provide for your child during these significant transformational years in their life. It's an honor to be part of this journey with you and your student.
