| Greetings From the Executive Director
Welcome to George Fox University's first parent e-newsletter for the 2005-06 academic year! You can expect to receive an e-newsletter each month of the academic year, September through April. The e-newsletter will provide timely information about current events at the Newberg campus, excellent (and brief) articles from campus administrators and faculty, and a place where you feel connected to the university. It will only take a few minutes to read through each e-newsletter, so I encourage you to take the time to read up!
As I write this message, we are only days away from Orientation Weekend, when your students move onto campus. I know how busy George Fox families are right now, putting all the pieces together to get their students transitioned successfully to campus. I'm living with this situation right now with my senior daughter and sophomore son, both of whom will be attending George Fox this year. My heart beats along with yours as together we watch our children mature and grow, face challenges, find support, become members of this close-knit community, and (in the case of our seniors) prepare to leave the community by the end of the year.
I've always prayed for my children, but for some reason, never more than I have during their college years. I think I've begun to understand why this is so. I need to be in God's presence so He can remind me that I need to release them to HIS plan for their lives, not mine. I need to release them to grow, take chances, push the envelope, and think about things that challenge my paradigms - all experiences He is using to carve them into the individuals He created them to be. This requires a great deal of active faith on my part! Do I believe God wants the best for my children? Their college years are the time when I put that belief on the line.
My prayers are with you as you walk by faith through the years ahead of you and your student. Blessings for the journey!
