Spring is almost here and I pray that your 2007 has gone well so far. Hard to believe spring semester is half over as our students look to finish strong. One of the incredible realities about life at George Fox is that it's much more than an academic experience. In addition to superb academics, the Fox experience includes spiritual development, fostering social responsibility, and reaching out to a broken and hurting world in Christian love.
We have an opportunity to come along side our students this spring as they embark on several May Serve trips. May Serve has been an annual tradition at George Fox for many years as teams of students and staff travel to locations throughout the world ministering to communities. You will soon be receiving a letter from the Parents Council's Parent Fund Committee soliciting your financial support for two short-term mission trips this May. Each trip involves a team of 14 to 15 students and two staff leaders. One team will be traveling to Brazil to minister to share the gospel with inner-city youth and adults. The other team will be traveling to Kohlkata , India , and work with two international ministries, Missionaries of Charity and Word Made Flesh.
What an amazing opportunity for discipleship and evangelism for our students to experience as they lovingly and enthusiastically reach out to these two communities for the sake of Jesus Christ. In Mathew 22:37-39, Jesus affirmed the two top commandments for all of us to follow: Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, and mind and love your neighbor as yourself. May Serve is a real and positive reflection of these two commandments. Please pray for how God would lead you to support these two May Serve trips and pray also for God's protection and provision for these students as they seek to honor and glorify God through their service to him.
Blessings to you and your family.
