Eric Straw, PhD

Eric Straw joined the College of Business as a professor of business in 2025, making the move to George Fox after serving as a professor of business at Corban University the previous 11 years.
He formerly worked at Corban as an associate professor of information systems (2008-14) and as an associate professor of computer science (2002-08). In 2008, he founded Mark 5 Ministries, a nonprofit service organization focused on meeting the computing technology needs of Christian missionaries working abroad, and has served as its co-executive director since then.
In all, he brings more than 40 years of industry-related experience, beginning with his stint as a computer technician aboard Trident class submarines in the U.S. Navy (1981-87). His areas of expertise include data analytics and personal finance.
Eric earned a PhD in information systems from Nova Southeastern University in 2013, from which he also holds a master’s degree in computer information systems (2004). He also earned a bachelor’s degree in business management from Corban University in 2000.
He lives in Scio with his wife Margie and attends New Hope in Lebanon. Eric enjoys watching F1 racing and spending time with his grandchildren.
