NEWBERG, Oregon – A family-friendly party on the quad, campus tours, the dedication of a new art and cinematic arts building, class reunions, and a football game are among the events planned for George Fox University’s annual homecoming celebration Friday and Saturday, Oct. 3-4.

The event begins Friday with an invitation for guests to participate in “Friday Flowers,” a tradition where those returning to campus hand out flowers to students from 11:30 a.m. noon on the campus quad. The day concludes with a Class of 2005 reunion off-campus and a concert by the Chehalem Symphony at 7 p.m.

On Saturday, a wide range of activities are planned, including breakfast gatherings for the Class of 2015 and “Classic Bruins” – those who graduated in 1975 and before (9 a.m.); gatherings for the classes of 1985 and 1995 (9 a.m.); an honors program tea (9:30 a.m.); alumni campus tours (10 a.m.); a worship service in the new chapel (11:30 a.m.); and Bruinpalooza, a party on the quad (noon to 3 p.m.).

In the afternoon, attendees can take a campus tour (1:30 to 3 p.m.), attend an honors seminar discussion (2 to 4 p.m.), or watch the Bruins take on Linfield on the football field (1:30 p.m.).

That evening, alumni from the university’s art and design programs are invited to a reception from 3 to 5 p.m. A dedication of the new art and cinematic arts building  follows from 5 to 7 p.m. Finally, honors program alumni will reunite at a reception from 7 to 9 p.m.

In addition to the activities offered, the university’s Hadlock Student Center will be open for free to alumni and their families all day on Saturday (8 a.m. to 9 p.m.).
