Ambassadors

Student ambassadors are George Fox University study abroad alumni. Through events hosted by the Center for Study Abroad, ambassadors are able to share their experiences abroad with their peers while promoting awareness of the numerous international opportunities on campus. If you are considering studying abroad, you are welcome to contact one of our ambassadors to learn more about our programs.

"Study abroad taught me what it means to be at home. It means stepping into bold conversations; it means trying foods I can’t even pronounce; it means embracing empathy. It is loving and being loved with my whole self."

“The world surely has not another place like Oxford; it is a despair to see such a place and ever to leave it, for it would take a lifetime and more than one to comprehend and enjoy it satisfactorily.”

KestrelRay

kray15@georgefox.edu

"Studying abroad was an amazing experience that allowed me to learn so much more about myself and the world around me. I will forever be grateful for the experiences I had and the friends I made while I was in Lithuania!"

KylerSchubkegel

Kyler Schubkegel
Senior, english and philosophy major
Oxford, BestSemester Program - Fall 2017
kschubkegel15@georgefox.edu

"Studying in Oxford, the City of Dreaming Spires, both fulfilled a dream and helped to shape new dreams. Centuries-old coffee houses, gallons upon gallons of tea, literary history around every corner, and the thrill of a city that is at once medieval and modern formed the context for an intense semester of research, but also for the birth of many beautiful friendships. I will always carry with me the community that surrounded me and joined me in stressing over essays, geeking out over cathedrals, and exploring more deeply what it means to follow Christ according to a unique vocation."

ReganHill

Regan Hill
Senior, international studies and sociology major
Senegal, CIEE Program - Fall 2017
rhill15@georgefox.edu

"To say "you're welcome" in Senegal, one would use the familiar Wolof phrase "Ñokko bókk." Literally, this translates to "we share it." What a beautiful way to look at the world. To look at all we have. We share it."

CarsonTidland

Carson Tidland
Senior, spanish major
Peru, Veritas Program - Fall 2017
ctidland15@georgefox.edu

“My semester in Peru was adventurous. Not only because I was living with a local family 11,000 feet above sea level in a city established before the discovery of the new world. But also because my experience wasn’t what I expected it to be. At first I was disappointed but then I realized that what God had planned for me was so much better that what I had planned for myself in my mind. I had an incredible experience and I wouldn’t change a thing!”

AnnaDirkse

Oxford, BestSemester Program - Fall 2017
adirkse15@georgefox.edu

"Studying abroad at Oxford has been one of the most formative experiences I have had while at George Fox. While abroad, I grew in ways that I never expected, both academically and spiritually. The City of Dreaming Spires stole my heart."

JonmichaelWeaver

Jonmichael Weaver
Senior, mechanical engineering major
South Africa, Veritas Program - Spring 2017
jweaver15@georgefox.edu

"Studying in South Africa changed the way I look at life. Early on I planned to explore various churches and denominations, but I unexpectedly found the church I could not resist going to. God worked through these people to show me a love I have not felt before. Studying abroad showed me a new side of Him through His people and beautiful creation."
