Pathway to Mental Health Studies

Watch video: Pathway to Mental Health Studies

Course Description

The Pathway to Mental Health Studies is a FREE online course designed to provide adult students with a broad understanding of psychology and the helping professions. As participants explore the mental health field, they will learn about the physical and psychological impacts of stress, examine the impact of culture on social awareness and behavior, and identify key factors that influence our view of the self.

1 Credit Equivalency

Each Pathways experience is equivalent to 1 academic credit hour. Students can choose to pay $499 to have the 1 credit transcripted, and they can apply it to a degree in any of our Adult Degree Programs,  including Psychology & Mental Health Studies. George Fox University is accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities.

Choose from two learning options: a guided path where you can interact with your instructor and peers throughout the course, or a self-directed path where you complete the course on your own — and at your own pace.

Meet the Prof

Michelle Shelton

Michelle Shelton, EdD, MA

“It is my honor to be a professor and online program director of our psychology and mental health studies degree. I hope you will join me on this four-week journey to explore the field of psychology, mental health studies and stress. Yes – I said stress. This is something we can all relate to, so you will spend some time reflecting on where your stress comes from and ways to reduce stress. If any of this sounds interesting to you, or if you have any questions about this opportunity, please do not hesitate to reach out to me. Otherwise I hope to see you in this upcoming course!”
