From the Sidelines – A Coaches Perspective

What an incredible season! I couldn't have been any more proud of the students on our team this year. I was so proud of the heart, determination and dedication that our players showed through-out the season. Coming into the season our coaching staff and players both felt this could be a special season. We had great players in every position and depth to go along with each position. This team had a senior group that was committed to excellence, but maybe the most important quality of this team was that they had a willingness and determination to play with a tremendous team spirit.

This team took great pride in playing for George Fox University and the Christian mission. The team showed a heart for God and had a goal to speak to others through their play, tremendous team spirit and putting the team before themselves. The way they treated each other and supported each other spoke to their character and values. They also each gave so much of themselves and showed an amazing work ethic and determination to the very end.

I feel like it is a privileged to have helped coach this team. The leadership we had helped to make practice and games fun each and every day and I am proud just to be a part of this team. I feel like the players worked hard to continue the tradition of excellence.

We often said to "make each day a masterpiece" (John Wooden) and that is what this team tried to accomplish each and every day. Great teams come along every now and then, but this team was very special! I am confident that next season’s team will also be committed to excellence, and the goal again will be to be and do our very best.

One thing I can assure you of is that each and every one will enjoy the journey and will stay focused on the mission! We will miss our great seniors that we had this year, we thank them for a standard for great team leadership that has been set that we want to continue. Our goal is to be a team that plays well together, a team with a great spirit, one that we are proud of as well as George Fox University and its fans and supporters.

On behalf of the coaches, and players, I would like to thank all of the wonderful parents, administration, the mentorship partners from Friendsview, the faculty and student body of George Fox University, and all fans, who, so faithfully attended the games and gave so much encouragement and support to our team.

God Bless!
