From the Executive Director
Now, the excitement over moving our children into Fox for the year is past us and your feelings may be teetering between anxious and hopeful. Each of us have unique circumstances and differing viewpoints about what life should be like for our children while they're in college and for us as we adjust to the process of launching a child into adulthood.
In my hope to encourage you through this process, I can think of only one message that applies to all of us. This message has no beginning and no end, and it defies the limitations of our minds. The message is simply this: God is faithful.
Our love for our children is eclipsed by God's love for them. Our hopes and dreams for their futures pale in comparison to the plans God has for their lives. Believing this, can we trust God to be faithful in every circumstance they encounter this year? Can we trust that our children will learn to rely on and listen to the Lord? Can we release them to his will for their lives?
These are questions my husband and I have asked ourselves (and continue to ask ourselves) concerning our children. When we pray together for our children, we thank God for his faithfulness in their lives, and we request his continued faithfulness. This puts us in the position of being able to say to our children, "We are praying for you in this area and trust God to make his will known to you." Hopefully, we are modeling to them what it looks like to walk in faith.
My prayer for each George Fox University parent is that they will experience God's faithfulness in a new and rich way this year.
