Management as a Liberal Art
We believe that the most effective leaders have a broad understanding of the role of manager in modern society. Our doctorate approaches the topic of management from a variety of disciplinary and historical perspectives while providing grounding in organizational theory.
Weeklong Seminars
Our weeklong seminars - held in January, May, and July (two weeks back to back) - enable you to complete your doctorate while working full time. Class sessions will be supplemented with reading assignments and projects as well as participation in a vigorous online community.
Distinctive Tracks
Choose the particular emphasis that best suits your goals. The Executive Management track is designed to serve the needs of current organizational leaders, both corporate and nonprofit, seeking to increase their effectiveness through earning a professional doctorate. The Management Education track is designed for those interested in teaching, coaching, training, and consulting in the educational or corporate setting.
Integration of Faith and Management
Explore the role of spirituality and ethical values in management practice in a supportive, faith-based environment.
Applied Focus
The professional doctorate focuses on application and practice, enabling you to contribute to knowledge and practice in your professional setting. Students complete a supervised practicum as well as an applied, organization-focused doctoral project or a traditional dissertation.
Mentoring and Self-Assessment
You will be assigned a faculty mentor to act as a resource during the program. You will also complete a series of self-assessment instruments that will provide you with valuable feedback on your management style.
Distinguished Peers
Learn from your peers from around the country. Our seminar-style classes draw upon the experiences and expertise of class members, which include senior leaders and experienced educators and trainers.
The World as a Classroom
Each entering class will travel together for a weeklong study experience exploring international business and culture. Meet with local executives, tour international companies, and interact with social agencies to develop a firsthand appreciation of the global economy. Some participants will gain further international experience through their practicum experiences.
Designed for the Busy Professional
54-credit-hour program, designed to be taken after completion of a master's degree, is taken on a part-time residency basis (four weeks per year). Courses are offered online, and both course work and the doctoral project can be completed in three to four years.
