Spain (Spanish Minors)

Semester in Spain Program (Spanish Minors only)

Program Overview
George Fox University students may apply to study in Spain for one semester through a cooperative agreement with Trinity Christian College of Palos Heights, Ill. The Semester in Spain Program is designed primarily for students majoring or minoring in Spanish. Students study in Seville, Spain, and live in local homes while attending classes with students from Trinity and other colleges.

Course content
A Preliminary Course Request Form is sent to each student prior to his or her departure for Spain. Students choose their courses based on their previous Spanish language course work, with the approval of their advisor or the foreign language faculty. Besides Spanish language courses students can take courses in Spanish history, art, and culture. ALL COURSES ARE IN SPANISH

Various activities and outings, such as concerts, theater productions, picnics, trips to the beach, sporting events, etc. will be offered throughout the semester. These activities are optional. Some activities will require only a nominal fee, some will be more expensive.

Program Fees
Students pay their regular George Fox tuition and room and aboard and continue to receive all of their financial aid. Due to the high cost of some programs an additional fee may be charged. The student is responsible for round trip airfare. There also may be an additional charge for a visa. The fee does include emergency travel insurance.

The student will fill out two applications:
• George Fox off-campus application
The Semester in Spain Program application should only be completed after being informed from the Director of Study Abroad that you are accepted for an off-campus study semester.
• Semester in Spain Program application

Students must be full-time undergraduates with junior or senior status, holding a cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher to apply.

Students live in Spanish homes in Seville. A student's Spanish family may consist of a couple or a single woman, with or without children. Students will be living with one, two, or sometimes three roommates from the Semester In Spain Program depending on the accommodations available. Students who are participating in our program along with a friend may request to live together in the same home assignment. Those requests are honored as much as possible.
