Program Overview

In conjunction with Uganda Christian University, George Fox students can participate in the Uganda Studies Program (USP). Students study with African students at Uganda Christian University in Kampala, Uganda, the capital city of Uganda.

Course Content

The program consists of one experiential course designed especially for USP students, Faith and Practice in the Ugandan Context, two or three flexible core classroom courses, and up to two electives chosen from Uganda Christian University's Honours College. Typically, you will attend lectures once a week and then meet with tutors for further discussion. Learn more about USP.

Excursions include a week-long visit to Rwanda and the option to go whitewater rafting on the Nile River.

You can elect to stay with a local family or to live on campus in one of four small dormitories, living with students from Uganda and other African countries. Each dorm room will house two students in clean but modest accommodations, with common bathroom and shower facilities. Students living on campus will also have the opportunity to spend two weeks with a local host family.

Program Fees & Eligibility

You pay your regular George Fox tuition and room and board and continue to receive all of your financial aid. Due to the high cost of some programs, an additional fee may be charged. You are responsible for round-trip airfare. There also may be an additional charge for a visa. The fee does include emergency travel insurance.

To apply, you must be a full-time undergraduate student with junior or senior status, holding a cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher.

Application Process

Applying to the program is a two-step process, requiring that you complete both a George Fox and external site application. Visit the Application Page to get specific details. Once you’ve completed the George Fox application, we will provide you with information to apply to the Uganda program.
