Program Overview

Olivet Nazarene University partners with the Council for Christian Colleges & Universities (CCCU) to offer study at the LA Film Studies Center. The center makes a “Hollywood Semester” available to upper-division George Fox students who qualify and are accepted.

The program’s purpose is to enable college students to serve in various aspects of the film industry with professional skill and Christian integrity. Located in Burbank near major production studios, the semester-long program combines seminar courses with internships in various segments of the film industry, providing the opportunity to explore the industry within a Christian context and from a liberal arts perspective.

The LA Film Center program may be of particular interest to students majoring in cinematic arts with a concentration in film studies. Students who complete the semester may then apply for a semester-long internship in their field of interest.

Housing

Students live in one of two beautiful apartment buildings, The Huxley and The Dylan, owned and operated by Essex. These buildings are only a couple of blocks from each other, and feature wonderful amenities, including a pool, a fitness center, rooftop terrace and clubhouse common spaces, a patio/balcony, central air, and in-unit washers/dryers.

Both buildings are very safe, with 24/7 security and access to all elevators, common areas, and residential floors via keypad codes and electronic key fobs. They are also conveniently located near grocery stores, shopping, restaurants, and even urgent care.

Program Fees & Eligibility

You pay your regular George Fox tuition and room and board and continue to receive all of your financial aid. Due to the high cost of some programs, an additional fee may be charged. You are responsible for round-trip airfare. The fee does include emergency travel insurance.

To apply, you must be a full-time undergraduate student with junior or senior status, holding a cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher.

Application Process

Applying to the program is a two-step process, requiring that you complete both a George Fox and external site application. Visit the Application Page to get specific details. Once you’ve completed the George Fox application, we will provide you with information to apply to the LA Film Studies Center Program.
