Formats and Start Dates
Find Your Fit. Live Your Best Life.
Looking for flexibility and convenience? You've got it. We offer three formats designed for working professionals. And if you need to switch formats or your degree timeline along the way, we’ll work with you to make it happen.
Regardless of the format you choose, you’ll have plentiful opportunities to connect with classmates who support you and professors who live our Be Known promise.

Flexible Online Classes
Flexible online classes are available for all start dates. This format gives you the freedom to complete coursework on your own time without any required in-person or live classes. We offer start dates every eight weeks, and even if you register in between start dates, you can take an orientation course right away so you don’t lose momentum.
Choose this option if you’re balancing multiple responsibilities and like to work independently. You can meet with your professors and peers online when it works best for you.

Live Online Classes
Live online classes are available for all start dates except for the mid-semester start dates. Classes take place via Zoom and typically meet one weekday evening per week from 6 to 10 p.m., with one Saturday class per month from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Occasionally, an additional weekday evening or Saturday may be required.
This is a great option if you want to balance your professional and home life with your academic pursuits. You’ll benefit from the structure of regular class times, and you can interact with your class on a preset schedule.

In Person
In-person classes take place at the Portland Center in the summer and fall terms, followed by a practicum placement in the spring. Classes typically meet one weekday evening per week from 6 to 10 p.m., with one Saturday class per month from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Occasionally, an additional weekday evening or Saturday may be required.
In-person classes are available to summer start students unless there aren’t enough students for a full in-person cohort. In the absence of a full cohort, you can choose between flexible online and live online classes.
Start Dates
Students are eligible for licensure after they complete three semesters of core coursework and practicum, and pass all state-required testing.
