Admission Requirements for the EdS Program

For students seeking admission to the Education Specialist program, requirements are as follows:

Transfer Credit

Students may transfer up to 15 semester credit hours of coursework toward their concentration and electives if these credits were completed beyond their first 30 graduate semester credits.

Transfer credits must be from a regionally accredited institution, at the graduate level, and must have a grade of B or higher, or a "pass" for pass/no pass courses. For the administration concentration, TSPC requirements will be considered to ensure alignment with the student’s licensure goals.

How to Apply

  1. Apply Online

    Create an account with a username and password and complete the Education Specialist application online. It's free to apply. The online application includes the following:

    • General contact and demographic information
    • Academic and professional background information
    • Resume
    • Two reference form requests

    Note: Applications can be saved to be completed at a later time. 

  2. All Students Must Submit

    Administrative Concentration Students Must Also Submit

  3. Request an official transcript from every regionally accredited college or university where you completed even a single course. Electronic transcripts are preferred for speed and accuracy. They must be sent directly from the institution to admissions@georgefox.edu. If an electronic option is not available, unopened official transcripts can be sent via mail to:

  4. Submit evidence of scholarly work. This may be a portion of a master’s thesis, graduate-level research paper, or scholarly publication (8- to 10-page maximum).

    In place of previous academic writing or a master's thesis, you may choose to write a five-page research paper on a topic related to your current/future work. Essays should draw from your own experiences and use a minimum of three outside resources. Papers should follow APA formatting and include in-text citations.

Once Your Application is Complete

Upon review of your complete application file, the Graduate Admissions Office will notify you of your admission status and provide you with next steps.
