The university offers a comprehensive benefits package that represents a significant component of George Fox employees' total compensation. Most benefits are available to all regular employees, half time and above; however, benefits are prorated for employees who work less than full time.

 Chehalem Aquatic Center Pool is now open to George Fox Employees

We’re excited to announce that the Chehalem Parks and Recreation District Aquatic Center pool facilities are now free to all George Fox employees, beginning with the 2018-19 academic year!

To get your pool access, use your active George Fox faculty, admin or staff ID card to register and get a Chehalem Parks ID card. Lessons and passes for family members will not be included in this free employee benefit, but can be purchased separately.

Employee Access to the Hadlock Student Center

Hadlock Student Center facilities are available for use by employees, spouses and dependent children. The center offers programs and services including a fitness center, climbing wall, rental center, group fitness and intramurals. See the Hadlock Student Center program and services webpage for more details. 

All university employees have access to the HSC using their ID card during posted hours of operation. Adjunct faculty and temporary staff will have access while they are actively employed, although this group is not eligible for dependent benefits. Emeritus employees have the same access as full-time George Fox employees. See the Employee Handbook section 8.2 for more information.

Employee Group Fitness Classes are Available

A number of employee-only group fitness classes are available in the Hadlock Student Center.

On Wednesday​s​, we offer yoga with Stacie Cannon from 5 to 6 p.m. Stacie is a veteran yoga instructor with more than 15 years of teaching experience. Whether you have taken yoga for years or this is your first time, this class is for you.

We also offer HIIT Boot Camp on Tuesdays from noon to 12:45 p.m. SPIN class will be available Wednesday mornings at ​6:15 a.m., and Barre Fusion will be held on Thursdays from noon to 12:45 p.m. These classes will be taught by our very own Katie Sol from Human Resources. Katie has been an instructor and manager at Excel Fitness for 15-plus years and has her personal training certificate.

Notice of an Important Change to Pioneer Educators Health Trust Health Coverage

As of March 31, 2019, the Pioneer Educators Health Trust of which George Fox University is a part will cease to exist. Employees who are currently covered under the PEHT Regence BlueCross/BlueShield PPO and/or Pioneer Dental through Regence will eventually need to evaluate options for coverage that starts April 1, 2019.

It is still early in our decision-making process, however we have been working with our benefits consultants to pursue additional options that may or may not continue to include Regence. The Kaiser HMO plan will not be affected by the dissolution of the trust. We will share details with those with Regence coverage as we know more, then with all benefit-eligible employees as we approach open enrollment. 

We realize this may be upsetting news to some. Participants in the PEHT/Regence plan will soon receive the official legal notice with more details from the PEHT by mail. Be assured, all valid claims through March 31, 2019, will be covered under the current PEHT plan. 

The health insurance marketplace is complex and ever-changing, and the PEHT was no longer a viable option. However, over the next several months we will continue to shop for additional health care plans to meet your needs.
