Services and Specialized Support

- Turnaround time: You will receive your customized resource list via email within five to seven business days.
Adult Care Resources
Supporting an older adult is a sacred responsibility that deserves the highest level of care. Canopy offers compassionate support to help you navigate this transition, ensuring your loved one receives the dignity and quality of service they deserve.
How Canopy Helps
- Care placement: Receive guidance on housing options, including assisted living, memory care and skilled nursing facilities.
- In-home support: Get referrals for home healthcare, Meals on Wheels, hospice programs and respite care.
- Financial and legal guidance: Access resources for Medicare/Medicaid, estate planning and guardianship.
- Caregiver transition tips: Get support for helping your loved one adjust to a new home, including socialization and communication strategies.
Navigating the Process
- Consultation: A specialist will assess your specific needs, including the level of care required (e.g., hygiene assistance or medication management).
- Advisor Access: Canopy can connect you directly with an experienced adult care advisor to start working with you as soon as possible.
Support for All Caregivers
Beyond finding care, your Employee Assistance Program (EAP) offers holistic support for your well-being.
- Financial coaching: Access coaches who can help with budgeting for care or saving for college.
- Legal consultations: Enjoy one free 30-minute consultation for issues like power of attorney, wills or custody.
- Counseling and coaching: Receive confidential support for relationship issues, postpartum anxiety, or the emotional stress of caregiving.
- Dependent care FSA: This tax-advantaged account lets you set aside part of your paycheck to pay for the supervision of children under 13 or elderly parents who require assistance while you work.
By contributing funds before your paycheck is taxed, you lower your total taxable income, allowing you to use that full amount for expenses like daycare, summer camps or adult day care services. This effectively increases your household’s purchasing power, as you are covering essential care costs with money that hasn’t been reduced by standard withholdings.
Sign up during Open Enrollment in November.
- Paid leave benefits: George Fox University provides comprehensive leave options designed to support employees caring for family members at any stage of life.
Through the Paid Leave Oregon equivalent plan, you can access paid time off for the birth, adoption or foster placement of a child, as well as for caring for a family member with a serious health condition. These paid benefits are supported by federal and state protections (FMLA and OFLA) that provide up to 12 weeks of job-protected leave.
By combining these programs with available sick and vacation time, the university ensures you have the financial support and job security needed to prioritize your family's well-being while maintaining your employment.
