Driver Certification

Certification is required prior to any travel for university business purposes. If you are planning to drive your personal vehicle or drive a third-party rental vehicle for university business, you must complete the Personal Vehicle Certification process at least five business days prior to your trip. Being an approved personal vehicle driver allows you to drive with other university students, employees and guests of the university in your car or in a third-party rental vehicle for university purposes.

If you are planning to drive a university vehicle, you must complete the University Vehicle Certification process at least 15 business days prior to your trip. This additional time is needed to complete the driving record background check process and to schedule a one-on-one driving observation with plant services. Being an approved university vehicle driver allows you to drive a university-owned vehicle with other university students, employees and guests of the university in the university vehicle for unversity purposes.

Please note: If your driver's license is issued from a state other than Oregon, additional paperwork may be required in order to request the driving record background check. For example, Washington drivers need to sign a release form to have their driving record checked. Please scan the completed release form and send it to plant services at plantservices@georgefox.edu.

Please see the Vehicle Reservations page for information on how to reserve a vehicle.

Driver Qualifications

To become a university approved driver, the driver must:

You must have five years of driving experience with a valid driver’s license to drive university vehicles (cars, shuttles, trucks, vans). You must have three years of driving experience with a valid driver’s license to drive personal and outside rental vehicles (cars, trucks, vans).

  2. Log in to Canvas to take the driving course (use your George Fox username and password)
  3. View the video and complete the quiz
  4. Schedule a one-on-one drive with plant services (unless you are only asking for approval status for your personal vehicle)
