Meal Plans 2017-18 - Policies & Procedures

Students are responsible to manage their own meal plan assignments and adhere to the deadlines.

Information about the current academic year's meal plan can be found at the bottom of this page.

Students who fail to confirm their meal plans, and if eligible, make any changes, will be charged for the meal plan applied to their account even if they did not use the meal plan.

For students needing medical accommodations to the meal plan, please complete the Meal Plan Accommodation Request form and submit it (along with the required documentation) to the Student Life office.

Selecting or changing a meal plan

  • Log into your MYGFU account
  • On the left side of the login page, click on a link titled HOUSING
  • Click on the link titled HOUSING & MEAL PLAN INTENT
  • Now you are in the housing portal
  • Click on the link towards the top of the page titled HOUSING INTENT
  • Click on the appropriate academic year, click SAVE & CONTINUE
  • Find the MEAL PLAN button to make any changes.  Be sure to click SAVE & CONTINUE when you have made your selection.

No declining meal plan changes are made after the end of the Add/Drop period, the second Friday of each semester.

Any changes made after the first DAY of the semester may be subject to our refund policy and may be prorated.  

Meal Plan expectations for residential students are as follows:

Meal Plan Options 2017-18 - Cost per semester

20 meals per week: per semester, for students with 30 credits or less, though all students may participate. Includes 20 meals per week with three meal periods, Monday through Saturday, and two meal periods on Sunday.

14 meals per week: per semester, sophomores, juniors and seniors may participate, must have 31 credits or more to participate

10 meals per week + $180 flex points: per semester, sophomores, juniors, seniors, may participate, must have 31 credits or more to participate, any flex dollars on this account at the end of the semester will be forfeited.

10 meals per week: per semester, for juniors and seniors, must have 62 credits or more to participate.

7 meals per week plus $190 flex points: per semester, for juniors and seniors, must have 62 credits or more to participate, any flex dollars on this account at the end of the semester will be forfeited.

75 block plan plus $100 flex points: for seniors, must have 93 completed credits or more, can be used for guest meals; one meal is deducted whether it is breakfast, lunch or dinner.  Flex dollars can be used at any Bon Appetit dining facility on the GFU campus while the block meals are restricted to the main Canyon Commons Dining Hall.

All Flex Plan: per semester,  for seniors with 93 completed credits or more, renewable each semester, points remaining on the card in the fall are transferable to spring semester in the academic year, used in any Bon Appetit dining facility; $455 on your student ID card is like a debit card for Bon Appetit food service area

Please Note: Any flex points on this account after the end of the spring semester will be forfeited. Flex dollars can be used at any Bon Appetit dining facility on the GFU campus. No Meal Plan, for students living off-campus.  Students approved to live off-campus may select any of the above meal plans, including the No Meal Plan.

 

Spring 2018 Information

Meal plans have been rolled over for the spring semester and charges have been applied to your bill.

Students who are eligible to change their meal plan for spring semester will be able to do so starting Monday, December 18, 2017.

After this date, please log into your Housing & Meal Plan Intent Form to make this change.

Please keep in mind that students living on campus are eligible for meal plans based on the number of completed credits earned. If you are expecting to change your meal plan for spring semester and you don’t have the options you were hoping to find, you may need to wait until all your grades have been entered to complete this change. Grades are generally due by December 25, 2017.

 Changes made after January 8, 2018, may be subject to our refund policy.

The final deadline for all declining meal plan changes will be Friday, January 19, 2018.

Fall 2017 Information

The final deadline for ALL declining meal plan changes is Friday, September 8, 2017.

Any changes made after September 1, 2017 may be subject to our refund policy.

Students will no longer have access to the meal plan intent form after this date.  Please contact Jere Witherspoon to make any changes.

Students are notified through The Daily Bruin and their GFU email when the Meal Plan Selection Form has been activated in MyGFU for the upcoming semester.

Canyon Commons Hours

ON-CAMPUS DINING FOR STUDENTS, FACULTY & STAFF OFFERED THROUGH BON APPETIT

    • Declining balance plan – bring your George Fox ID card in to the office along with cash, check or debit/credit card and we can load money directly on your ID card. We’ll add an additional 10% credit if you add $50 or more! This can be used in the main dining room, Bruin Den, Bruin Bites or Bridge café.
    • Commuter VIP – our newest offering geared toward commuter students, for $75 you can purchase a punch card good for 12 meals (breakfast, lunch or dinner) in the Canyon Commons dining room.
