Pathway to Project Management
Course Description
The FREE online Pathway to Project Management course will provide a brief overview and analysis of concepts in the field of project management. Students will be exposed to project management history, processes and knowledge areas. Students will examine how project management has evolved over time and found its way into a diversity of industries with project managers and project management offices (PMOs) now being commonplace. From traditional to agile methodologies, students will consider different approaches to project management.
1 Credit Equivalency
Each Pathways experience is equivalent to one academic credit hour. Students can choose to pay $499 to have the one credit transcripted, and they can apply it to a degree in any of our Adult Degree Programs, including Project Management. George Fox University is accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities.
If you're interested in purchasing credit for the course, you'll need to complete the course requirements by one of the following deadlines: August 18, December 15 or April 26.

Meet the Prof

Debbie Austin, DBA, PMP
Debbie Austin has lived and worked in the Pacific Northwest her entire life and currently resides in Beaverton, Oregon. She earned her DBA in Strategic Leadership from George Fox, and an MBA in IT Management and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Western Governors University prior to that. She held a variety of IT leadership and project management roles in several Fortune 500 companies for over 20 years and moved into higher education leadership and teaching roles in 2006. She holds a PMP (Project Management Certification) and earned an advanced graduate certificate in eCommerce and project management. Having earned all of her degrees in online education programs and then developing, teaching, and leading online programs, her passion for online teaching and learning blossomed. Her dissertation was focused on student perceptions of connection with their online instructors. Today she continues her teaching pursuits and her work with higher education faculty and administrators to improve online education.

Explain the importance of project plans aligning with stakeholder needs and the project charter.
