Please check out our online inventory to request items

Online Inventory Help: Requesting items using our new system requires you to choose a pick-up day and time.  You may choose either Monday 2:00pm to 5:00pm or Thursday 1:00pm to 5:00pm. You must choose a pick up and return time using the drop down menu. The maximum duration of your loan will be for 7 days.  If you need an exception to this schedule, please contact scienceoutreach@georgefox.edu and make special arrangements.

Pick-up and return location: Items will be available for pick-up curbside this semester to reduce traffic through the science buildings. At your scheduled pick-up time, please pull up to the curb outside of the Woodmar/EHS building at the intersection of Meridian St. and Franklin St. When you have arrived, please call the Science Outreach office at 503-554-2708. A program employee will bring your items out to you and load them in to your car. All items will be boxed in cardboard, and will be disinfected before they are checked out to you. Please return all items in these boxes to allow items to be stored untouched for several days before they are disinfected. Returns will also be handled curbside, and you should indicate your arrival by calling the Science Outreach office. Thank you for your compliance with these new protocols as we work to reduce the risk of COVID-19 to our community.

George Fox University has scientific equipment many elementary, middle and high schools do not own. The Science Outreach Program began loaning equipment to schools so their teachers could provide tangible learning experiences for students. Equipment loans are also available to the homeschooling community. If you need microscopes, dissecting tools, physics models, or a variety of other teaching items, we can loan them to you and help enrich scientific learning among your students.

Our goal is to encourage and empower teachers to become dynamic scientists and more effectively teach the wonder of God’s creation to future scientists. Contact the Science Outreach Program if you need help brainstorming ideas for your students.

Loan Process

Equipment is loaned out on a first-come, first-served basis for up to one week (seven days). To borrow equipment:

  • Request equipment at least 48 hours in advance
  • There will be a set morning time to pick up equipment and an afternoon time during the week, this varies from semester to semester. Please come to the office on second floor of Edwards-Holman Science Center, EHS 206.
  • Equipment Loaning pick-up and drop-off:
    • Mondays from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m.
    • Wednesdays from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m.

There will be a slight cost for consummable items.

If equipment is lost or damaged upon return, the borrower must reimburse George Fox for replacement costs. Items must be returned in the same or better condition as when they were checked out. George Fox reserves the right to charge for time spent cleaning, organizing, or repairing returned items if needed.

If you are looking for equipment that is not on our list, please feel free to contact us. We may be able to purchase some items or offer a suitable replacement.
