Business Analytics Certificate

Every industry, from business to arts to healthcare, is seeking employees with strong data skills. For that reason, George Fox University’s College of Business offers students of all majors the opportunity to develop practical analytical skills by earning a Business Analytics Certificate.

Here’s the good news: You can complete the certificate in as few as three semesters. And there’s only one prerequisite to begin: Complete BUSN 240 Business Statistics or an equivalent 200-level or higher course in statistics.

What Will I Study?

The certificate’s course sequence covers the tools and techniques of business analytics. Specifically, classes provide instruction on:

  • Basic programming and advanced applications of software with business applications
  • The application of statistical techniques to the analysis of economic data, with an emphasis on addressing common questions of value to managers and public decision-makers
  • Design principles for creating meaningful displays of quantitative and qualitative data to facilitate managerial decision-making
  • How to identify, evaluate and capture business analytic opportunities to create value
  • Programming methodology and writing computer programs using standard style and structure

In the capstone course, you will engage externally with a business and other stakeholders to complete a project using data-to-decision-making processes learned throughout your certificate study. The course culminates in a public oral defense of your work.
