A Message from Wendy Flint, IDEA Center Director

The IDEA Center staff works with students to promote exceptional life outcomes. We collaborate with faculty, employers, community organizations and alumni to prepare students for experiential learning, whether through internships, field experiences, summer employment or jobs after graduation. Students can schedule an appointment or drop in to talk to a Career and Academic Planning Coach (CAP Coach) for academic scheduling and advising, or a job and internship coach for career planning and job-search skills training.

Networking with Industries

The IDEA Center networks with industries across the region to let hiring managers know that we offer Oregon’s best talent. Recruiters who visit our campus find our students to be “exceptionally professional, articulate, polite and well-prepared for jobs of the future.” We have three annual events with over 100 employers to connect students with hiring companies - Job & Internship Fair, Engineering Expo, and Nursing Expo. Every student gets an account with “Handshake,” our job and internship portal where current jobs are posted.

Calling and Career Courses

We offer three one-credit courses – Discover Your Calling (GEED 214), Internships: Finding, Landing and Succeeding (GEED 216), and Developing Professional Identify (GEED 218) – that go in-depth into preparing for a career.

Students, stop by the first floor of the Stevens Center and check out our “on-the-wall” resources to assist you in pursuing internships and employment.
