Hadlock Student Center Membership & Access

Students check in at the front desk in Hadlock Student Center.

Students

The Hadlock Student Center (HSC) is open to all current full-time and part-time (taking five or more credits) George Fox undergraduate students.

Students must be degree-seeking. Credits from field experience, internships or practicums do not count toward the five-credit total. Students who do not meet the minimum requirements for an automatic membership may be elligible to purchase a supplemental membership to the Hadlock Student Center for $80 per term (spring, summer or fall).  Short-term memberships may also be an option but are evaluated on a case-by-case basis.

Graduate Students

Graduate students are elligible for access to the Hadlock Student Center if they are paying the comprehensive fee associated with Hadlock and other programs and services. The three programs that are currently paying this fee include the following: Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT), Master of Medical Science (PA), and Doctor of Psychology (PsyD).

Any graduate students not listed here are not paying the fee but are elligible to purchase a supplemental membership to the Hadlock Student Center for $80 per term (spring, summer or fall).  Short-term memberships may also be an option but are evaluated on a case-by-case basis.

Student Spouses

Married undergraduate and graduate students that meet the eligibility requirements for the HSC (see above) can purchase a membership for their spouse at the beginning of each academic term (fall, spring and summer) for $80. A marriage license or other official document must be provided at the time of purchase. This policy does not apply to engaged students. Memberships are not prorated if purchased later in the academic term.

Employees

All university employees have access to the HSC using their ID card during posted hours of operation. Adjunct faculty and temporary staff will have access while they are actively employed, although this group is not eligible for spouse or dependent benefits. Emeritus employees have the same access as full-time George Fox employees.

Family and Dependents of Employees

Full-time university employees can request a George Fox University ID card for a spouse or dependent (aged 18 to 26) by contacting the IT Service Desk (servicedesk@georgefox.edu ) on behalf of their spouse or dependent. Spouses and dependents are not allowed to use the employee’s ID card for entrance.

A dependent is defined as a member of the household who is claimed as a dependent on the employee’s tax return. Spouses and dependents (aged 18-26) will be provided a MyGeorgeFox login and be required to complete the waiver located there

Dependents aged 12 to 17 can use the HSC while directly supervised by a parent/guardian,  although they are not required to obtain a George Fox University ID card. Dependents under the age of 18 need to have a completed  guest waiver on file prior to utilizing the facility.

Family Days

Several times a year the HSC will host Family Days. Family Days are an opportunity for George Fox employees and their immediate family members to use the facility. Children under 12 are allowed in all areas of the HSC except the cardio/weight area. Family members aged 12 to 17 can use the cardio/weight equipment while directly supervised by a parent/guardian. Please bring your George Fox ID card and complete a guest waiver  for dependants under the age of 18.

Alumni

Several times a year the HSC will host Alumni Days. Alumni Days are an opportunity for George Fox alumni and their immediate families to use the facility. Children under 12 are allowed in all areas of the HSC except the cardio/weight area. Family members aged 12 to 17 can use the cardio/weight equipment while directly supervised by a parent/guardian. Please bring a photo ID.

Prospective Students

Prospective students can utilize the Hadlock Student Center if they have a Future Bruin VIP Pass (or nametag for Bruin Preview events) from the admissions office. The student must have a completed consent form on file with the admissions office, which is managed via their online student visitation process. Prospective students may take part in most activities offered in the HSC.

Guests

Daily guest passes can be purchased for $7 by anyone 18 or older. Guests are limited to five visits per month.

Approved guests will need to complete the  guest waiver  before entry to the HSC.

A guest pass allows guests to use the facility and also participate in group fitness classes and climbing wall classes. Registration for these activities is required through IM Leagues. At this time, the guest pass does not allow access to outdoor recreation trips and activities, intramural sports, climbing competitions, and special events offered by University Recreation (unless otherwise specified).

To use equipment in the facility (like basketballs and climbing shoes) the sponsor must check out the equipment for their guest. However, a membership or guest pass is not required to rent outdoor equipment from the HSC Rental Center.

University Recreation will occasionally allow access to the facilities for visiting individuals and limited-duration employees or volunteers who do not qualify for a George Fox ID card. Contact the director of campus recreation to discuss the specifics of your situation.
