Matthew Stump joined the Department of Biology and Chemistry as an assistant professor of biology in 2016 and now serves as chair of the Department of Biological and Molecular Sciences. Before arriving, he spent the previous two years at George Fox as a visiting professor of biology.
His graduate training was in the field of protein biochemistry, and his current research interests include the identification of mechanisms that underlie the normal and abnormal expression of the hERG potassium channel as related to long QT syndrome, a life-threatening cardiac disorder.
