We are excited that you have chosen to study at George Fox!

Once you’ve been admitted, there are some important steps to take related to getting a student visa, so be sure to read those.

Before you come, be sure to check out the Orientation and Getting Started page for details about new student orientation, and visit the Exploring Newberg page to learn more about living in Newberg.

We look forward to meeting you!

First-year students live in dorms, divided into freshmen and upperclassmen living spaces. If you live in a dorm, you will also have a meal plan through the university’s cafeteria. As an upperclassman, you can choose to live off campus. Please refer to the housing page for more information.

If you’ve been accepted and decide to attend George Fox, you can start applying for housing on May 1. Rooms are available on a first-come, first served-basis, so the sooner you apply the better your chance of landing in the dorm of your choice. After you’ve made your deposit, the admissions office will send you an email to apply for housing.

There is a community kitchen located in each residence hall where everyone can utilize the space.

Wells Fargo is a five-minute walk from campus, and there are other banking options available. If you would like more assistance in finding a bank, connect with Kerry Ford in the International Student Services office once when you arrive on campus.

AT&T, Verizon and other phone providers are located near the university.

There are plenty of grocery shops nearby! Walgreens and Grocery Outlet are a five-minute walk from campus, and Fred Meyer and Safeway are about a five-minute drive. There is also a Target and Walmart in Sherwood, which is a 15-minute drive away.

There are plenty of restaurants, food trucks, coffee shops and fast food restaurants all within walking distance of campus. Nearby eateries and coffee shops include Starbucks, Chipotle, Wendy’s, McDonald’s, Burger King, Panda Express, Taco Bell, diners, and Italian, Thai and Chinese restaurants.

Visit the Oregon Driver & Motor Vehicle Services website to get all the information you need to obtain a license.

Generally, you can get around Newberg without a car. Uber is convenient, and there is bus service into the Portland area.

Parking is free for all students as long as you register your vehicle with the university and obtain a sticker for your car.

Individuals on a student visa are permitted to work on campus. There are plenty of different jobs you can apply for! Please work with your international student advisor in the job-hunting process.

George Fox offers many clubs, Life Groups (small-group Bible studies), and work opportunities.

Every weekend, there is an event hosted by Student Activities. Additionally, our gym, Hadlock, holds numerous group fitness classes and intramural sports. For off-campus events, check out the Hadlock Student Center website to learn about outdoor adventures and trips.

We have a mailroom on campus that is open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
